Check
your account online
You can view your own
library account to see what is checked out on your card, dates
due, fines owed, and materials on hold. Click on the
"account" link at the top of the page, or on the "check
my account" link on the library catalog page.
Type in your name
(eg, Jane Smith) in the name box.
Type in your library
card number, found on the back of your library card, in the barcode
# box. Be sure to include all the numbers; you do not need
to include spaces.
Click on the "Display
Patron Record" button.
You will get a page
that shows your address and telephone number, and links to items
currently checked out and requests (holds) outstanding.
If you click on items checked out you will get the titles
and due dates for everything checked out on your card..
You may sort them by due date, and renew them if you wish.
Click on requests
outstanding to show a list of items you have requested.
It will show the library you selected as the pickup location,
and whether the item is available for pickup. It will also
indicate the position of your request -- for example, 3 of
12 holds means that 12 patrons have requested this item and that
there are 2 people still ahead of you in line. To get a
better idea about the actual wait time for the item, click on
the title for information on the total number of copies available
and the due dates. If you wish to cancel a request or change
a pickup location, please call the library.
Please call or stop
by the library if you find any wrong or outdated information on
your record.
Renew
Materials
You may renew most materials
to extend the loan period. You can renew items in person
at the library or branch (you do not need to have the item with
you to renew it),. You can renew items by telephone by calling
410-749-3612, ext 31, or online.
To renew items online,
view your account (instructions above). Click on
items checked out. Click on the renew all items
button, or select specific items you and click on the renew
selected items button. You will see a confirmation
page showing the new due dates.
You will not be able
to renew materials online if::
- your library card has expired. The library asks
that you confirm personal information and update your card every
three years.
- you owe more than $5.00 in fines
- you have materials checked out that are more than 9 days overdue
- someone has requested and is waiting for the item to be returned
- the item has already been renewed
Please call or visit
the library if you have any questions or problems with the online
renewal process.
Place
a Hold/Request an Item
You may place a hold
on items listed in the catalog, including items currently on loan
to another customer, on order, or located in another location
within the consortium. The Wicomico Public Library
is part of a consortium that includes the Wicomico, Worcester,
and Somerset County Libraries and the Eastern Shore Regional Library.
The library catalog includes materials from all four libraries;
almost all items may be requested. You may select the library
where you want to pick up your items.
- Search the library catalog for the item you would like to
borrow.
- Click on the title of the item. You may get a list with
several items, including video recordings and large type versions
of the same title. Choose the one you want. You
will see a list of the copies owned and where they are located. Click on the
request button at the top of the page.
- Type in your name (eg, Jane Smith) in the name box.
- Type in your library card number, found on the back of your
library card, in the barcode # box. Be sure to include
all the numbers; you do not need to include spaces.
- Choose a pickup location from the list
- Click on Submit
- When notified that the item is available, check it out from
the library you selected as the pickup location.
As above, you will need
to call or visit the library if you card needs to be updated,
if you have overdue materials that cannot be renewed, or if you
owe more than $5 in fines.
