How To Get a Library Card
Library cards are issued at all branches and are available free to anyone who:
- Lives, works, or goes to school in Maryland
- Lives in Delmar, DE zip code 19940 only
Note: Out of State Residents must pay an annual fee of $15.00.
ID must be presented to receive a permanent card. Acceptable forms of ID include:
- Maryland driver’s license
- Maryland MVA ID
- Call for other acceptable forms of ID
Temporary cards are available online:
- You will be issued an identification number to
- Use the online database resources
- Reserve library materials
Note: To use the computers or check out materials, you must appear in person for a permanent card and tell staff that you have already registered online.
Cards for juveniles:
- Juveniles under age 14 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when applying for a library card
- Juvenile must be present when applying for card
- Parent or guardian must have a card in good standing
- Parent/guardian must show ID and sign for child
- Youth under 18 must have signed permission from parent/guardian in order to borrow media (juvenile or teen DVDs, computer games).
Library Card Privileges
With your Wicomico Public Library card, you may:
- Borrow books, videos, DVDs, music CDs, and more from the Wicomico Public Library, the Centre Branch located in the Centre at Salisbury, Pittsville Branch, and from public libraries in the Lower Shore Library Consortium (Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, and Dorchester Counties).
- Request materials from other libraries using the statewide Marina Interlibrary Loan System.
- Sign in to use public access computers at the library and branches.
- Use databases available through the library from your home computer.
- Use your online library account to see what you have borrowed and when materials are due, renew your materials, and request that materials be held for you.
- Download audio books and other media for freeLoan Periods
Loan period is 21 DAYS for most materials. Exceptions to this include a seven-day loan for most videos, dvds and computer games, and 14 days for express books.
Notices
As a reminder, email notices are sent a few days before an item is due to customers with a valid email address on file at the library.
Bills are sent for items that are four weeks overdue.
If items are not returned within eight weeks of the due date, the account may be turned over to a collection agency. Fine & Fee Schedule

Renewing Your Card
In order to maintain accurate, up to date information, and to continue to use our online services, card holders must renew their registrations every three years. There is no charge for this. Renewing your card is easy – simply stop at the desk at any branch with your card and identification showing current address. Organization Library Card
Courtesy Organization Library Cards are issued to organizations, agencies, or schools in Maryland. The responsible board or individual which has fiscal authority will be held responsible for any fines or fees charged against the card.
The organization must submit a request on letterhead the following information:
- Date
- Name of Organization
- Responsible users’ names
- Fiscal agent’s name & title
- Signature of fiscal agent
