Setting up your browser for access to WPL Databases

If you have already set up your browser, you can go directly to the databases

If this is your first visit, please use the following instructions to set up your browser (Note: we recommend printing out these instructions before proceeding):

Not sure which browser version you are using? Click on the help button for your browser to see your version.

Netscape Version 2.x or 3.x:

1. select Options
2. select Network Preferences
3. select the Proxies tab
4. enter in the Configuration Location (URL): http://heron.wico.lib.md.us:8080/proxy.pac
5. click Reload and OK

Netscape Navigator/Communicator Version 4.x, 6.x, 7.x:

1. select Edit
2. select Preferences
3. click on the '+' to the left of the Advanced option
4. click on Proxies
5. click on the Automatic proxy configuration button
6. enter in the Configuration Location (URL): http://heron.wico.lib.md.us:8080/proxy.pac
7. click Reload and OK

MS Internet Explorer Version 3.x:

1. select View
2. select Options
3. select the Connection tab
4. select the Advanced tab
5. at the bottom of the Advanced page, click on the Automatic Configuration button
6. enter in the URL: http://heron.wico.lib.md.us:8080/proxy.pac
7. click on Refresh then click on OK in the popup box
8. click on Apply then OK on the Options menu

MS Internet Explorer Version 4.x:

1. select View
2. select Internet Options
3. select the Connection tab
4. in the Automatic configuration box click on Configure
5. enter this URL: http://heron.wico.lib.md.us:8080/proxy.pac
6. click on Refresh
7. click on OK then OK again on the Internet Options menu

MS Internet Explorer Version 5.x, 6.x:  Dial Up Connection

1. select Tools
2. select Internet Options
3. select the Connections tab
4. In the Dial-Up Settings box find the icon with the name of your dial-up service. Click on the icon once to highlight it.
5. select Settings
6. Check the box next to Automatically detect settings
7. Check the box next to Use automatic configuration script
8. in the Address box, type http://heron.wico.lib.md.us:8080/proxy.pac
9. click on OK then OK again on the Internet Options menu

1. select Tools
2. select Internet Options
3. select the Connection tab
4. select the LAN setup button
5. Do not check the box next to: "Automatically detect settings"
6. Check the option " Use automatic configuration script "
7. In the Address box, enter this URL: type http://heron.wico.lib.md.us:8080/proxy.pac
8. click on OK then OK again on the Internet Options menu

Mozilla 0.9.x or 1.0.x

1. select Edit
2. select Preferences
3. click on the "+" to the left of the Advanced option
4. click on Proxies
5. click on the Automatic proxy configuration button
6. enter in the Configuration Location (URL):
   http://heron.wico.lib.md.us:8080/proxy.pac
7. click on Reload and OK

America Online User:

1. To install Netscape Navigator for AOL:
2. Keyword: netscape
3. click on Click Here!
4. click on Download Netscape
5. Follow the prompts to load and install Netscape Navigator
6. Follow the steps listed above for setting up Netscape Version 4
