The Hoys are part of the bedrock of our community. Ray served as the president of Wor-Wic Community College for over 20 years, overseeing a remarkable period of growth and development for the institution. During his tenure as president, the institution added numerous new programs and buildings, making Wor-Wic a hub of learning and training on the Eastern Shore. Donna, in addition to being a former college and secondary school educator and long-time realtor, served as Legislative Aide to Senator Jim Mathias.
Our Friends Foundation was fortunate enough to secure their early support for the Building Our Library Together campaign. Ray and Donna donated $10,000 to fund a new feature at the library: a "soundproof pod." It will be a one-person zone for private appointments and distraction-free reading and studying. Ray is also a very active member of our Friends Foundation board of directors, very successfully contributing his fundraising expertise to our capital campaign efforts.
“As former educators, we appreciate the importance and value of a high-quality public library. During my personal education journey libraries were key to my success as I spent countless hours researching and studying in the book-filled rooms,” Ray said about their support for our new library. “Today’s libraries offer so much more, and that is a very appealing aspect of this project. In addition to creating an exciting state-of-the-art library for our community, this project preserves and remodels an iconic building that will be welcoming to visitors of all ages.”
We are so grateful to Ray and Donna Hoy, who continue to prove their commitment to Wicomico Public Library, to Salisbury, and to the greater Wicomico County community.
