Zahra's Blessing: A Ramadan Story by Shirin Shamsi
It's a special Storywalk to celebrate Ramadan.
Zahra hugs her cherished teddy bear and prays that Ramadan will bring her a longed-for sister. When her bear subsequently goes missing, Zahra finds herself grappling with intense feelings of loss. Over the next few weeks, as she volunteers with her mother at a local shelter for asylum seekers, Zahra befriends a displaced child, resulting in a newfound sense of gratitude and an unexpected Ramadan blessing.

It’s springtime at the Riverwalk Park StoryWalk®, and we’re celebrating with a new featured book: Bird Count by Susan Edwards Richmond, illustrated by Stephanie Fizer Coleman!
Learn about the Christmas Bird Count (yes, we know it’s not Christmas!) through this engaging story about community science and birding. This StoryWalk® is presented in collaboration with HHMI Tangled Bank Studios as part of the Flight Path project.
In the story, a young girl joins her mother during the annual bird count. When she’s invited to record the team’s tally, she uses her most important tools, her eyes and ears, to carefully observe and identify birds along their assigned route. Together, the team follows official birding guidelines, noting habitats, time of day, and identification techniques for each sighting.
Be sure to check our event calendar for more Flight Path–themed activities and programs happening throughout the season!
