A Gift from the Heart: Friends of the Library Make First Major Campaign Contribution

Posted on:

The Friends of the Library Committee of the Friends Foundation has done it again — leading the way with heart, hustle, and a deep love for our public library. We're thrilled to announce that the Friends have made the first major contribution to the capital campaign for the Friends Foundation of Wicomico Public Library — pledging an incredible $100,000 over three years! 🎉

This generous gift will be recognized in a special way: the new Friends of the Library Café will be a vibrant space at the Sarbanes Branch, where readers, learners, and neighbors can gather, connect, and refuel. It’s a perfect tribute to a group that brings people together through their unwavering support of library services.

The Friends raise funds year-round through used book sales, Friends memberships, and fun, creative fundraising events. But their impact goes far beyond dollars — they are the boots-on-the-ground advocates and volunteers who show up, speak up, and cheer loudly for the library.

The smiling faces in this photo represent some of our community’s most dedicated champions — people who believe deeply in the power of books, access, and lifelong learning. Their leadership sets the tone for this campaign, and we are beyond grateful.

Thank you, Friends, for being the first to raise your hand — and your voices — for the future of our library!
