The ALICE Project
As of 2023, in the state of Maryland, the ALICE project reports that 39% of households are below the “ALICE Threshold,” meaning households that are below the Federal Poverty Level, plus ALICE households or those who earn more than the poverty limit but “less than the basic cost of living for the county.” In Wicomico County, the Alice Threshold is reported to be at 44% as of 2023. To help combat these numbers in Wicomico County, our group is creating a comprehensive online guide aimed at individuals and families experiencing or at risk of being unhoused in Wicomico County, with up-to-date and essential community resources, information, renters’ rights, and affordable and/or community-supported housing.
